One of the issues that often comes up as we are living longer is figuring out the best place to live. Most people want to stay put in their own home. That’s what Peesh and her husband Paul want, only they have different ideas about where in Maine their home should be. One thing they agree on is that it’s important to live your life fully and not put things off. My conversation was mostly with Peesh, but Paul joined us toward the end.

Who’s next?
Conversations About Aging airs every other Monday. My next conversation is with Dr. Robert McAfee, who is a retired surgeon and former president of the American Medical Association. We go way back — I interviewed him many times when he was still practicing and I was still reporting on Channel 6. I’m looking forward to catching up.
If you have any suggestions for people I should consider interviewing or you’re aware of a helpful aging resource in your community, let me know. In addition to the podcast, I intend to blog about what various communities, organizations, and individuals are doing to provide age-friendly services, support, and connection here in Maine. The best way to get in touch is to send me an email. Thank you!
Please share the podcast with friends, family, on social media, everywhere. You’re also welcome to become a member of our Facebook group Conversations About Aging .
Hi Diane— Really enjoyed the pod cast you did of Peesh and me–Sent it to my siblings. Also found the interview with Jack uplifting especially as
my sister has checked herself into a mental hospital a couple of days ago and remains incommunicado..Consider me a subscriber and fan.

ps.. the only correction I might make of the podcast is that my shop isn’t in a garage..
Hi Paul:
I was delighted to find this podcast and hear your voice. If you remember your days sailing in your 30s, I’m guessing you remember me from Eastport. I was with Heather and built the house on Michener St., which you saw and I believe encouraged you to build your house on Prince (?). I was in Bangor last month and drove over to Eastport. It was the first time back in 40 years, as the last time I was there was 1984 when I put a deck on the Michener St. house. As you can imagine, I saddened by the loss of Allen and Normand… and years before, Eliot. I haven’t been in touch with Heather much. A little bit over the years. I was able to see Greg Biss when I was there for a minute. I knocked on the door of the house I built and when the owner came to the door, I said, Hi, I’m Jerry. I finished building this house 40 years ago. He, John, didn’t really know what I was saying, but figured it out. I saw on this podcast the house you built — by yourself! !! I remember you, as well as the house, and looked for it when I was in Eastport, but got a little lost. I also tried to find Tom McDugold, but it didn’t happen. If you get this message, send me an email? jerrymirskin@gmail.com I have a question or two for you. And, do you still have that Roman coin? 🙂
Just wonderful and a lot of fun to listen to. It is very nice to hear things others are going through. This aging thing is not easy. I watch my husbands health and try not to be afraid for him. It is important to take one say at a time. Pejj Nunes
