When the snow melts for good and the sun comes out, so does my hammock. Fortunately, my boss (me) thinks taking a nap is ok — healthy even.
A 20-minute power nap swinging under a blue sky between the birch trees. Doesn’t that sound heavenly?
Check out this infographic from Patio Productions (they sell patio furniture) to see what kind of nap might fit into your day. You’ll be joining the company of geniuses! (Einstein, not Diane.)
National Napping Day
If you look closely at the Infographic, you’ll see that it says March 14 is National Napping Day. That would have been the case in 2011, which is probably when the Infographic was created. It changes every year, falling on the day after we set out clocks forward.
In 2023, National Napping Day falls on March 13 but, seriously, who needs a special day?
Where is your favorite place to take a nap? Do you prefer a nano nap? Power nap? Or lazy man’s nap?!
I prefer a couch or bed for a 20 minute nap. I don’t think I could rest outside in a hammock without being bugged by mosquitoes and black flies — especially this time of year. Sometimes working in the garden for ten or fifteen minutes during the workday clears my head, but I don’t feel “rested” afterwards like I would with a nap. Thanks for the post and reminder that the practice of napping may yield more productivity in the long run.
